I have been absent a lot. Partly this is due to overwhelming life stuff, and partly it's due to what I think is RSI. My hands have been hurting too much to type save when necessary. One of my favorite things about WisCon was Nisi Shawl's Guest of Honor speech. She talked about awesomeness (except I think she called it genius, or maybe magic--it's really all the same thing, I think), and how we should be actively trying to spread as much of it around as possible. I just spent the weekend in Atlanta, GA at Outlantacon/Gaylaxicon, and it was super fun. I got to meet a bunch of new people and spend some quality time with people I had previously met. This boy, who had his eyes removed when he was three, uses echolocation to place himself in the world. He does things like play basketball and ride his bike. He is seriously awesome, and so is his family. Here's a video:
